Most of the population is eligible to donate, but only 2.9%  donate blood in India

• One blood donation can save more than one life.
• Every two minutes, someone in INDIA needs blood.
• Thalassaemia patients need blood on a regular interval  for entirelife
• A single trauma patient can need 100 units of blood to survive.
• More than a quarter of India blood supply is used by patients battling cancer. 
• About 50% of all platelet donations go to help cancer patients.
• 1 in 87 moms will require a blood transfusion after giving birth.
• There is no substitute for blood; it can only come from volunteer donors.
• All blood types are needed to support hospital patients.
• It only takes about an hour to give blood.
